The RDA BKP is currently implementing the project “Support for agricultural practices aimed at the conservation and protection of biodiversity,”<\/strong> which runs until October 14, 2025. This initiative is funded through a public call by the Eco-Fund<\/strong>, covering the conservation of endangered breeds, permanent grasslands, and landscape features such as dry stone walls.<\/p>\n

Conservation of Autochthonous Breeds Across Montenegro<\/h4>\n

Through this call, RDA BKP applied for a total of 53 beneficiaries across Montenegro. While one beneficiary is focused on autochthonous plant varieties and grass strips, 52 are dedicated to raising autochthonous animal breeds, which are vital to our natural heritage.<\/p>\n

The project recognizes specific autochthonous breeds: among sheep, these include the \u017euja, Pivska pramenka, sora, and ljaba<\/strong>, while among cattle, the focus is on the bu\u0161a<\/strong> breed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Since May 2025, representatives from RRA BKP and the Eco-Fund, along with academic experts, have visited all beneficiaries to establish baseline data and record exact livestock numbers. These visits continued at various katuns, where cooperation agreements were signed and biodiversity training sessions were conducted for the farmers.<\/p>\n

These subsidies represent a crucial motivational factor<\/strong>, demonstrating to farmers the high value of these breeds and encouraging them to invest additional effort into their long-term conservation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Preserving Natural Heritage<\/h4>\n

The successful implementation of this project provides a significant incentive for farmers to continue preserving species characteristic of our region. By supporting these traditional practices, the project directly contributes to the protection of Montenegro’s unique natural and agricultural identity.<\/p>\n
