On July 30, 2025<\/strong>, the final conference of the project “Joint actions for the development of rural tourism”<\/strong> was held in \u0160avnik. This initiative, implemented by RDA BKP, the Zlatar Tourist Organization, and the Municipality of \u0160avnik, was co-financed by the European Union through the Serbia\u2013Montenegro Cross-Border Cooperation Program.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure and Capacity Building<\/h4>\n

During the conference, key results were presented: the development of the Katun Road “Giant Peaks”<\/strong> in Montenegro and a network of five Zlatar trails in Serbia. These thematic routes connect rural households with natural and cultural attractions. Infrastructure along the trails was significantly improved, including the installation of signaling and the preparation of promotional materials.<\/p>\n

Special attention was paid to strengthening the capacities of rural households<\/strong> as tourism service providers. Enhanced web portals and bilingual brochures will ensure long-term visibility and better positioning of these authentic destinations on the international market.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Knowledge Exchange and Regional Competitiveness<\/h4>\n

In the panel discussion “Rural Tourism \u2013 Current Situation, Experiences, and Directions of Development,” participants emphasized the importance of cross-border knowledge exchange. The project activities contributed to better regional connectivity and greater competitiveness in a market that increasingly values sustainable and authentic travel experiences.<\/p>\n

By linking the tradition of seasonal movement to katuns<\/strong> with natural heritage such as medicinal plants, the project has created a recognizable market product. This opens new income sources for rural communities and encourages young people to remain in these areas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A Foundation for Future Growth<\/h4>\n

The completion of the project marks the beginning of a new phase. Partners are committed to maintaining and further developing these results with the support of local authorities. This cooperation ensures that natural and cultural resources are properly valued, making the cross-border region a competitive and unique tourism destination.<\/p>\n
