Project Overview<\/h3>\n

The Regional Development Agency for Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije<\/strong> is implementing this project to bridge the gap between science and industry, aligned with Montenegro’s Smart Specialization Strategy. The focus is on mobilizing young researchers to develop practical, off-grid solutions for rural tourism households in mountain katuns.<\/p>\n

Main Priorities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Developing sustainable solutions for households without access to the power and water grid.<\/li>\n
  • Providing technical and commercial experience to young research talents.<\/li>\n
  • Preserving traditional architecture while introducing modern off-grid capacities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Project Results<\/h3>\n

    1. Capacity Building of Young Researchers<\/strong>
    \nA multidisciplinary team (specialists in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable architecture) addresses the specific challenges of katun living. Key focus areas include:<\/p>\n

    • Integrated off-grid solutions for bathrooms and compost toilets.<\/li>\n
    • Innovative accommodation designs that maintain authentic cultural characteristics.<\/li>\n
    • Creation of detailed construction projects using materials available on the domestic market.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      2. Applied Research and Practical Piloting<\/strong>
      \nDesigned approaches are tested through 5 pilot cases spread across different territories to ensure maximum peer-to-peer learning. This result includes:<\/p>\n

      • On-site testing and refinement of designed solutions by researchers.<\/li>\n
      • Development of comprehensive case studies for the academic community and SMEs.<\/li>\n
      • Dissemination of findings to katun communities and policymakers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
