At the foot of Visitor Mountain in Brezojevice, Plav, lies the \u201cVelemun\u201d Botanical Garden<\/strong>. Established in 1993 through the dedicated work of botanist Milutin Pra\u0161\u010devi\u0107, the garden serves as a unique center for the protection and promotion of the Prokletije Mountains’ flora.<\/p>\n

Biodiversity at 920 Meters Altitude<\/h4>\n

On a surface of 520 m\u00b2, under typical continental climatic conditions, grow over 350 plant species<\/strong>. The garden was named after the striking trumpet gentian (Gentiana kochiana<\/i>). Every plant here has its own story, from the rare Wulfenia blecicii<\/i> to the Serbian spruce and Edelweiss.<\/p>\n

Beyond presenting local flora, the garden plays a vital scientific and educational role<\/strong>. Through ex-situ protection programs for endangered species and cooperation with regional institutes, \u201cVelemun\u201d significantly contributes to the popularization of Montenegro\u2019s botanical treasures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Visitors can enjoy guided garden tours, excursions to the Prokletije Mountains, environmental education, and a dedicated camping site. Traditional local meals and products made from Plav area herbs and fruits provide an authentic experience.<\/p>\n
