The opening ceremony of the new Visitor Center in Prokletije National Park was held on July 30, 2014, located near the Ali Pasha Springs in Gusinje.
The center was built on land donated by the Municipality of Gusinje, with funding secured by the Regional Development Agency for Bjelasica, Komovi, and Prokletije through the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). The Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro co-funded the construction and equipped the facility.
Partners’ Message: H.E. Austrian Ambassador, Dr. Johann Fröhlich, expressed satisfaction with the successful use of Austrian government funds, noting that while the local community should benefit economically, they also bear the responsibility for nature conservation.
Development of the Youngest National Park
Prokletije NP was established in 2009, and RDA, with ADA’s support, has significantly strengthened its management. Beyond the Visitor Center, projects included office equipment, entry points, cultural routes, mountain biking trails, and “catch and release” fly-fishing zones.
