About the Project

The DanubeCrafts project aims at the preservation, promotion, and sustainable development of traditional crafts in the Danube region through their integration into contemporary tourism flows. The project brings together partners from several countries in the Danube region, with a common goal to enhance the visibility and economic potential of traditional crafts through the development of thematic tourism and innovative tools.

The DanubeCrafts project contributes to:

  • preservation of cultural heritage

  • development of sustainable tourism

  • strengthening of local economies

  • connecting regions through a joint offer

By integrating crafts into tourism products, the project creates new opportunities for the development of rural and less developed areas.

The DanubeCrafts project involves 18 project partners and 13 associated partners from various sectors:

  • development agencies

  • research and educational institutions

  • business support organizations

  • public institutions

  • non-governmental organizations (NGOs)

Their role is the joint development of solutions, strategies, and pilot activities in the field of traditional crafts and tourism.


Project Objective

The main objective of the project is to develop a common approach for the valorization of traditional crafts and their connection with tourism, through:

  • development of a joint transnational strategy

  • development of regional action plans

  • capacity building of stakeholders in the sector

  • development of innovative solutions for promotion and sustainability

The project strives to create a long-term framework for the preservation of crafts as part of the cultural identity and economic development of the region.


Project Activities

The project includes several key activities:

1. Analysis and Strategic Planning

  • analysis of the current state of traditional crafts and tourism

  • development of a joint strategy for the Danube region

  • development of regional action plans

2. Development of Innovative Solutions

  • establishment of centers for traditional crafts and tourism

  • development of training and workshop methodologies

  • creation of tools for business improvement and innovation

3. Development of the Traditional Crafts Route

  • identification and connection of attractions

  • creation of thematic itineraries

  • involvement of local stakeholders and communities

4. Digitalization and Promotion

  • development of digital tools and platforms

  • promotion through events and festivals

  • strengthening visibility through communication activities

5. Certification and Sustainability

  • development of route certification principles

  • establishment of transnational cooperation

  • strengthening institutional capacities


Project Results

Through the implementation of the project, the following results are expected:
