DYNAMIC DANUBE: Study visit on sustainable agriculture

As part of the DINAMIC DANUBE project, project team representatives and local experts from Montenegro participated in a study visit to Zagreb, held from March 17th to 19th, 2026. The visit was organized by Croatian partners – RIT Croatia and Optimizacija d.o.o., with the support of other project partners.

During the three-day program, participants had the opportunity to learn about modern approaches to sustainable agriculture and bioeconomy, as well as concrete examples of best practices from the region.

The program included lectures, workshops, and presentations from companies developing solutions in smart agriculture, product traceability, and food waste reduction. A special focus was placed on innovative food distribution models, digital tools, and solutions that can enhance the operations of small family farms.

On the second day, a field visit was organized to Zrno eko farma (https://zrno.hr/) – the oldest organic farm in Croatia. Through practical examples and direct on-site engagement, participants gained valuable insights into the principles of organic production and sustainable farm management.

The final day was dedicated to exchanging experiences, summarizing conclusions, and presenting additional innovative models in the food sector, including examples from gluten-free production and European initiatives for innovation in the food industry.

The study visit was assessed as extremely beneficial for strengthening participant capacities, networking with partners from the Danube region, and exchanging practical knowledge applicable in the local context. Particular emphasis was placed on examples showing how small farms can improve their production through innovation, cooperation, and better market access.

The Regional Development Agency for Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije will continue to support small family farms in Montenegro through the DINAMIC DANUBE project, connecting them with relevant partners, knowledge, and innovations from the region to develop sustainable and competitive agriculture.
