Project Overview: The project was designed to connect important and valuable cultural, agricultural, and natural heritage represented by katuns (seasonal mountain settlements) and livestock transhumance, by developing outdoor tourism offers in Kosovo and Montenegro. This includes mapping a thematic katun trail and involving katun farmers in providing tourism services.

General Objective: Increase the scope, quality, and visibility of tourism linked to the valorization of cultural and natural heritage and values.

Specific Objective: Integrate katuns into the tourism offer of Kosovo and Montenegro.

These objectives will be achieved through carefully selected activities tailored to the needs of the target area, focusing on the development of tourism services in katuns and tourism products such as the thematic trail “Katun Route.”

Expected Results:

• Result 1: Katuns prepared to provide tourism services.
  • Activities: Conduct a detailed analysis of the target territory, including collecting baseline data on tourist visits, and gathering information on the strengths and weaknesses of households from the perspective of providing tourism services.
• Result 2: Tourism products and services developed around katuns.
  • Activities:
    • Establish 15 rest areas for tourists where food can be served.
    • Set up 8 camping sites near katuns.
    • Install at least 90 solar systems in katuns.
    • Place signage for thematic katun trails and markers for katuns.
    • Capacity building and training related to tourism – hospitality, traditional elements in the offer, appropriate marketing, privacy, food safety standards, etc.
• Result 3: Cultural, natural, and agricultural values of katuns promoted.
