Project Overview

The project focuses on enhancing the quality and diversifying the tourism offer based on the natural and cultural heritage of the cross-border area. By strengthening rural tourism within protected zones and areas of natural beauty, the project creates sustainable economic opportunities for local communities.

Main Objectives:

  • Valorization of cultural and rural resources located near key natural attractions.
  • Empowering rural households to provide professional and standardized tourism services.
  • Promoting cultural heritage as an essential part of the regional mountain tourism offer.

Key Results

1. Resource Mapping and Mobilization
Key potentials for rural tourism development were identified and mapped, followed by the formulation of a strategic valorization framework. New tourism services were developed to better integrate rural households into the wider cross-border tourism market.

2. Direct Support for Rural Households
Tourism infrastructure was improved and host capacities were strengthened. A significant achievement included the transfer of knowledge from Montenegrin practices to the Sarajevo Canton to enhance the institutional framework for the categorization of rural accommodation.

3. Proper Presentation of Heritage
Cultural heritage was successfully promoted and integrated as a core component of the regional tourism offer, highlighting the unique link between local traditions and natural potentials.
