The project was designed with the aim of connecting the very important and valuable cultural, agricultural, and natural heritage represented by katuns and livestock transhumance, by developing outdoor tourism offers in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, mapping a thematic katun trail, and involving katun farmers in providing tourism services. Therefore, the general objective of this project is the diversification of the tourism offer of the cross-border area based on natural and cultural heritage, while the specific objective is the valorization of cultural and natural heritage of less developed areas through the development of rural tourism. These objectives will be achieved through the implementation of a set of carefully selected activities tailored to the needs of the target area, with the aim of developing a new tourism product – thematic trails called Katun Trails of Montenegro.

General Objective: Improve the quality and diversification of the tourism offer based on natural and cultural heritage.

Expected Results:

  • Increase in the number of tourists visiting rural and protected zones
  • Improved image of the cross-border region as a tourist-attractive, multiethnic, and culturally diverse destination
