Regional Development Agency (RDA) for Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije successfully continues the implementation of activities aimed at preserving cultural heritage and economically empowering the local community. As you have already had the opportunity to follow through our previous posts, we successfully completed a cycle of specialized workshops where we trained a total of 41 individuals in our traditional embroidery! This exceptional result, as well as all the upcoming steps we are taking, is being implemented through the #DanubeCrafts project funded by the European Union.
And what are the next steps?
Our primary goal in this phase is to try to significantly enrich the souvenir offer of our region. We want to move away from classic products and focus on creating items that are, above all, usable and practical in everyday life, while incorporating the motifs and elements of our traditional embroidery. In this way, old crafts receive a new, modern, and sustainable value in the market.
We are delighted to highlight that we already have some of the first samples and prototypes ready! Since these products are intended for promoting our region and supporting local artisans, feedback from the public and visitors to our website is extremely important to us.
We are interested in your opinion
Therefore, we are very interested to know if you like our first samples, whether you would gladly buy them for your own needs, or perhaps give them to someone as an authentic and original gift from our region?
We in the agency team might be completely subjective because we had the unique opportunity to closely follow the entire process and watch how these beautiful items are created – from the very first stitch to the finished product, but we can safely say that we would buy all of this!
In the upcoming period, we will continue developing these products and linking them with local tourism businesses, ensuring that traditional embroidery becomes an integral part of the authentic and recognizable tourism offer of Bjelasica, Komovi, and Prokletije.
