CrossReTour workshop on call for challenges

On Monday, June 2024, Regional Developemt Agency for Bjelasica, komovi and Prokletije arranged a wider event on the subject of katuns – transhumant, nomadic movement of cattle and people to higher pastures in the mountains. This is an ancient tradition still practiced in Montenegro, though to a much lesser extent. What gives hope that tis tradition will survive is its great compatibility with tourism, particularly sustainable, mountain tourism.

Regional Development Agency for Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije is a member of transitional consortium gathered around project CrossReTour through which tourism businesses will be able to get assistance, guidance and professional support in green and digital transitions. Tourism katuns (which means agricultural holdings practicing transhumance and providing tourism services in high up off-grid zones) will have first chance to get enrolled in the program and work towards green transitions, as their areas deserve proper preservation. On Monday 17 applications have been collected, and this group will immediately start with assessments for innovation and mentoring, with the aim to upgrade their skills and prepare well for the Call for Applications that will come end of this year.
