Project Overview
The general objective of this project was to establish a functional platform for the accelerated and high-quality development of the rural tourism sector in Montenegro. By empowering active agricultural households, the project created a foundation for long-term sustainability and professionalization within this niche tourism segment.
Main Objectives:
- Strengthening the capacity of agricultural households to drive further sector development.
- Institutionalizing the sector through the formation of a national umbrella association.
- Aligning local offers with international standards and best practices.
Key Results
1. Formation of the National Association
The project successfully established a formal association of rural households. This included organizing the founding assembly, drafting all necessary legal acts, and preparing a comprehensive strategic action plan for the association’s future operations.
2. Management Capacity Building
Key management tools were developed to support service providers, including a specialized beginner’s guide to rural tourism, a thorough analysis of current regulations, and the launch of a dedicated web portal for information and promotion.
3. International Integration and Standardization
The association achieved membership in EuroGites (the European Federation for Agritourism and Rural Tourism). Workshops were conducted to introduce households to European quality standards, directly increasing the competitiveness of the Montenegrin rural offer.
Scope and Impact
Implemented over a 9-month period across the entire territory of Montenegro, the project directly benefited at least 50 families, providing them with the necessary organizational structure and expertise to excel in the rural tourism market.
