Montenegrin Mountain Women in Eurowings Inflight Magazine – Stories to be Read by 5 Million Passengers

The stories of women from our publication “Invisible Women of Montenegro” have become part of a prestigious European inflight magazine! German journalist Marc Oliver Rühle and photographer Madlen Krippendorf visited Montenegro and met six extraordinary women from villages and katuns – Danka, Rada, Gordana, Jovana, Vera, and Žizela.

Their testimonies were published in the May/June 2025 edition of the official inflight magazine of the Eurowings airline, which is read on more than 900 flights across Europe. It is expected that this story about Montenegro and its women will reach around 5 million readers, ensuring they are no longer invisible. We expect that at least some of these readers will be inspired to visit these katuns and villages.

In the article titled “In the Land of Invisible Women,” the authors depicted life in several active katuns and villages, where women for generations have worked, created, and welcomed guests. The report brings personal stories, challenges, and dreams of the mountain women who preserve the spirit and tradition of the Montenegrin mountains.

This international recognition is a great encouragement for our work in promoting authentic stories and rural tourism. We thank the Eurowings magazine team for the attention and respect they showed our women.

Special thanks also to the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro for organizing this visit.
