Stories of the women from our publication “Invisible Women of Montenegro” have become part of a prestigious European inflight magazine! German journalist Marc Oliver Rühle and photographer Madlen Krippendorf visited Montenegro to meet six extraordinary women from rural villages and mountain katuns – Danka, Rada, Gordana, Jovana, Vera, and Žizela.
Visibility in European Skies
Their life stories were featured in the May/June 2025 edition of the official Eurowings inflight magazine, available on over 900 flights across Europe. This authentic story about Montenegro is expected to reach approximately 5 million readers, ensuring that these women, their strength, and their work are no longer invisible to the world.
In the article titled “In the Land of Invisible Women”, the authors portrayed life in several active katuns and villages, sharing the personal stories, challenges, and dreams of the women who have preserved the spirit of the Montenegrin mountains for generations.
This international recognition is a great encouragement for our work in promoting authentic narratives and rural tourism. We believe this report will inspire many travelers to visit these very katuns and experience their unique hospitality firsthand.
We extend our special thanks to the Eurowings magazine team for their interest and respect, as well as to the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro for organizing this visit.
A Bridge Between Tradition and a Global Audience
Initiatives like this serve as concrete proof of how connecting authentic cultural heritage with modern communication channels creates new development opportunities for Montenegro’s rural areas.
