The Thematic2Green (T2G) project is in its final phase. In Montenegro, procurement of equipment for 3 rural households is currently underway, alongside mentoring support for 4 households aimed at obtaining eco-certifications, with 3 households included in both activities.
In the upcoming period, the Joint Strategy of all project partners, featuring an action plan for implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in rural and coastal areas of the Adriatic-Ionian region, is set to be finalized.
Equipment for a Greener Future in Katuns
The procured equipment includes bio-toilets for wastewater treatment in katuns and solar water heating systems with accompanying accessories. The supported households traditionally practice transhumance on Montenegrin katuns, where livestock farming is their primary occupation, and they possess excellent resources and strong motivation to expand into rural tourism.
The installation of this equipment directly improves the quality of life for katun dwellers, enhances farm production and processing, positively impacts environmental preservation in our mountains, and creates the necessary conditions for households to register for catering and tourism activities.
Obtaining ecological certification is a long-term process involving an external consultant and the RDA BKP team, providing full mentoring and guidance on the ground.
Study Visit to Greece and Appearance at the Thessaloniki Fair
Alongside field activities, representatives of RDA BKP participated in a study visit to Greece from September 9 to 11, 2026. The visit was organized as part of project activities to conduct regular partner meetings regarding the implementation of the T2G project.
During the visit, representatives from all partner countries attended the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair, which was dedicated to innovation, new technologies, research, business, and international cooperation. The fair was also visited by the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Visitors had the opportunity to visit the stand of our project partner and host, Enterprise Greece, where all project representatives jointly participated under the theme: “Fostering Green Transition through Innovation and Transnational Cooperation”. Representatives from all 8 participating countries presented their ideas and project activities.
The two-member RDA BKP team delivered a notable presentation titled: “Katun Case Study: Preserving Mountain Heritage through Sustainable Local Development”, showcasing Montenegrin katuns, their rich heritage, and contemporary sustainable development models to an international audience.
