Regional Development Agency for Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije has in December successfully completed the implementation of two projects funded by the Government of Montenegro, through the competition for funds from the games of chance.
One project deals with the establishment of trails for mountain biking in the territory of Bjelasica mountain. A network of 194km of mountain bike trails has been made, and it covers some of the most beautiful parts of Bjelasica, that have not been involved in any kind of tourist offer yet. This is important from the perspective of rural tourism, which began to develop in this area. Five information boards have been set up, promotional brochure has been designed and printed, and is important to mention that this project brought in some innovations in terms of usage of the modern IT technologies. Namely, each of the pictograms on the trails contains QR codes so that a guest who has a QR reader directly can be linked with the page from which he/shecan collect GPS logs and similar data. In this project we worked together with the outdoor club The Northern Way, which selected the routes, set up signalization on them, and prepared deatiled and precise maps that were used for all promotional materials.
The second project deals with the katuns as part of the cultural heritage of our region. The aim of the project was to create a publication that would show the history of katuns, the way of life in katuns which shaped the culture, customs and traditions there. We also wanted to show that katuns are very important as part of the overall tourist offer of the region. And our whole intention to deal with this subject stemmed from the fact that there is no similar publication in Montenegro, to the best of our knowledge.
