WISHFUL / Ict for Smart Healthcare Tourism 2018-2021

Project Title: WISHFUL / ICT for Smart Healthcare Tourism

Donor: EU – INTERREG IPA Italy–Albania–Montenegro

Project Value: EUR 1,213,325.00

Implementation Period: 15 March 2018 – 14 March 2020, extended until 30 June 2021

Short Project Description: The general objective of the project is to reduce barriers to access for tourists suffering from chronic conditions and/or disabilities by creating an interconnected network of tourism and medical services. It will also indirectly encourage the tourism sector to adapt to European standards and generally increase accessibility, bringing a greater influx of tourists with special needs to the region. The project will foster tourism and valorization of cultural and natural heritage by targeting a group often overlooked: people with special needs, making tourism services/products more accessible and linked with medical services. Smart and integrated management of the tourism offer will lead to valorization of the region’s cultural and natural heritage.

Main Results:

  • A cloud-based web platform with geo-referencing services and ranking of tourist facilities, where tourists/patients can access information and book a tourism package with all necessary services (tourism and medical).
  • A mobile application for tourism/medical routes, enabling tourists to alert a medical institution included in their package in case of emergency.
  • Promotion of horizontal aspects highlighted in EU regulations, such as sustainable development, by supporting environmentally conscious tourism.

Specific Objectives:

  • SO1: Promote new innovative companies and cooperation among key territorial actors.
  • SO2: Support knowledge exchange and talent mobility.
  • SO3: Support the creation of relationships with international institutions and the placement of products/services on the market.
