Project Overview
The general objective of the WISHFUL project is to reduce barriers for tourists with chronic conditions or disabilities by creating an integrated network of tourism and medical services. The initiative encourages the tourism sector to adapt to European accessibility standards, valorizing the region’s cultural and natural heritage through an inclusive approach.
Specific Objectives:
- Promoting innovative companies and fostering cooperation among key territorial actors.
- Supporting knowledge exchange and talent mobility within the smart healthcare tourism sector.
- Building relationships with international institutions and bringing new services to the market.
Main Results
1. Cloud-Based Platform and Geo-Referencing
A digital platform was developed to provide tourists and patients with essential information and a ranking system for tourist facilities based on accessibility. Users can book comprehensive packages that combine standard tourism offerings with necessary medical services.
2. Innovative Route Application
A mobile application for tourism and medical routes was created. In case of an emergency, the system allows tourists to instantly alert the medical institution integrated into their package, significantly enhancing safety for travelers with special needs.
3. Sustainable and Inclusive Development
The project promotes environmentally conscious tourism and aligns with EU horizontal regulations, ensuring that tourism growth adheres to the principles of sustainability and social responsibility.
Partnership
The project was led by the Municipality of Maglie (Italy), with partners: University of Salento (IT), ALCDF (AL), Regional Council of Elbasan (AL), RDA for Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije (MNE), and the Local Tourism Organization Žabljak (MNE).
