As part of efforts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, U.S. Ambassador Judy Rising Reinke visited the village of Podbišće in Mojkovac municipality to witness firsthand the results of the “Seed Distribution Montenegro” project. This important project is funded by the American non-profit organization Spirit of America and jointly implemented by the Regional Development Agency for Bjelasica, Komovi, and Prokletije and NGO Paradigma.

Visit and Activities

During her visit to the household of the Tomović family, beneficiaries of the project and members of the “Mountain Bounty” network, the Ambassador participated in planting tomatoes and peppers. The project provided nearly 30 varieties of locally purchased seeds to 68 households engaged in rural tourism.

The total scope of support includes: 6,000 kg of seed potatoes, 1,400 kg of onion seedlings, 670 kg of cereals, 24,000 pepper seedlings, and more than 50,000 seedlings of other vegetables.

The Tomović Family

The family of Boris Tomović, recognized for registered pickle production and their own vegetable cultivation, is currently in the process of registering for rural tourism. This partnership between the United States and Montenegro demonstrates strong commitment to strengthening local producers and enriching the tourism offer of the north.
