Project Overview

The general objective of this project is to establish mechanisms that increase sports participation among all citizens, while integrating these activities with ecological and tourism initiatives. The project aligns with national sustainable development strategies by promoting healthy lifestyles and active engagement with the natural environment.

Main Objectives:

  • Expanding sports and recreational participation within the local community.
  • Establishing a high-quality mountain biking trail network in Northern Montenegro.
  • Valorizing natural attractions through eco-friendly tourism activities.

Key Results

1. Trail Network Development
A new network of mountain biking trails, spanning a total length of 190 km, was established across the Bjelasica, Komovi, and Prokletije regions. The tracing was performed strategically to ensure seamless connectivity with existing infrastructure and easy access to natural landmarks off the main paths.

2. Strategic Planning and Scalability
Emphasis was placed on the long-term sustainability and future scalability of the trail system. This approach ensures that the network can be expanded and upgraded in the future, providing a solid foundation for the region’s growing cycling offer.

3. Promotion and Visibility
To attract both domestic and international visitors, detailed route descriptions and professional photography were produced. A promotional brochure was created, and informational boards were installed along the routes to provide essential navigation and difficulty ratings for cyclists.
