Peer review visit by partners from the city of Sibiu from Romania

From November 26 to 28, representatives from the city of Sibiu, Romania, visited Montenegro as part of the Commheritour project. The visit, implemented by RDA BKP, took place in Petnjica and Berane through various joint activities focused on exchanging craftsmanship expertise.

Preserving the Bihorski Carpet in Petnjica

Special attention was given to the pilot project hosted by the NGO “Bihorski ćilim” and the “Mahmut Adrović” Elementary School. These workshops focus on transferring the skill of weaving the Bihorski carpet, a recognized part of Montenegro’s protected intangible cultural heritage.

This marks the first time an organized effort has been made to transfer weaving skills from older to younger generations, ensuring the survival of this authentic craft through the Commheritour project.

This visit served as a return visit following the Montenegrin team’s trip to Sibiu in September. The field work in Petnjica provided a platform for direct communication, where workshop participants showed great interest in Romanian wool processing techniques. Partners also met with local government representatives and visited an extensive collection of traditional carpets.

Both partners concluded that our regions share cultural and natural potentials that will serve as a bridge for future cooperation in developing project ideas for the rural and mountainous areas of Montenegro and Romania.

Continuing the Dialogue in Berane

The visit continued in Berane at the RDA BKP premises, where partners were introduced to the wider scope of our organization’s projects. This exchange of practices and field challenges is crucial for the more intensive cooperation we aim to build in the coming years.
