Donor: Kingdom of Norway
Project Value: USD 43,410.00
Donor Contribution: USD 43,410.00
Implementation Period: 10 March 2020 – 11 February 2021
Project Purpose: Strengthen family businesses in the target area to ensure economic security and provide good examples for the region that farmers can follow. The benefits will not only be concrete for selected households but also significant for the wider community through certain services and opportunities for experience exchange.
Project Summary:
- Strengthening the sustainability and competitiveness of small businesses through interventions that will improve processing and the quality of products and services. The project will provide processing capacities for agricultural households that have not previously processed their products, thereby increasing the value of their products and enabling them to improve quality through the use of appropriate equipment.
- Providing advice and support to small businesses to expand into new markets. Through processing, packaging, and compliance with food safety regulations, products will be ready for the market. The project team will specifically target local hotels and restaurants with these products, whose guests are mainly tourists.
- Supporting small businesses in applying appropriate standards and obtaining certificates. The project aims to ensure that relevant agricultural households receive the necessary permits from the Directorate for Food Safety, as well as assistance in laboratory testing of products. All of this is required so that local producers can legally offer their products on the market according to rules adopted in the EU accession process.
