Montenegrin Highland Women Featured in Eurowings Inflight Magazine – A Story Read by 5 Million Passengers

The stories of the women from our publication Invisible Women of Montenegro have become part of a prestigious European inflight magazine! German journalist Marc Oliver Rühle and photographer Madlen Krippendorf visited Montenegro to meet six extraordinary rural women from villages and mountain katuns – Danka, Rada, Gordana, Jovana, Vera, and Žizela.

Their personal stories were published in the May–June 2025 issue of the official inflight magazine of Eurowings, available on more than 900 flights across Europe. With an estimated readership of around 5 million passengers, this moving and visually captivating feature ensures that these women are no longer invisible. We hope at least some readers will be inspired to visit their villages and katuns.

The article, titled “In the Country of Invisible Women”, highlights everyday life in several active katuns and rural settlements, where women have for generations worked, created, and welcomed guests. The reportage brings forward their voices, their struggles, and their dreams – showing how they preserve the spirit and traditions of Montenegro’s mountains.

This international recognition is a great encouragement for our ongoing efforts to promote authentic rural stories and sustainable tourism. We extend our sincere gratitude to the editorial team and Eurowings for the attention and respect shown to these remarkable women.

Thank you to National Tourism Organization who organized this visit of journalists.
